.nyfw2012 trend alert: brights.

If I had a band the name would undoubtedly be Anné and the Brights. I simply adore bright colors. I  can oft be caught in nearly-neon clothing. Take one step into my “beauty office” (aka massive walk-in closet) and welcome to a color explosion.

I have a penchant for mixing colors like royal purple, kelly green and powder blue. These combos may not work on everyone, but my biggest fashion rule is “go confidently!” If you feel like you’re wearing a costume it’s going to look that way. Oppositely, if you can grab a couple favorite pieces from your closet and find they look marvelous together, you will be unstoppable.

Bright trends come and go with each passing season. I hope this never changes! Read on for some of my favorite bright looks for SS2013 and leave your comments below.

Farah Angsana uses bright bolds in formal wear for unusual, exquisite results. The gowns are soft, flowing and perfectly draped. Both of these dresses have dramatic volume while remaining perfectly tailored. I love how these statement colors compliment the gowns without being distracting.

Whitney Eve

Whitney Eve is still gaining feet in the fashion world, but this SS2013 collection was more sophisticated than it’s debut Fall2012 line. While I find most of the garments cute and wearable, they can be a bit too trendy (dare I say – expected?!) I was tickled with the SS2013 collection, especially the Harem pants and over-sized jacket above. The proportions are perfection and Port muted the colors while staying current with brights.

Vera Wang

Does Vera Wang buzz your brain to “bridal?” Think again! While I absolutely melted over this red bridal amazingness, Wang brought her chic aesthetic to the entire SS2013 collection. I love the quiet patterns and dainty sheers mixed with the brights. Her flawless execution makes each neckline, hemline and everything in between look perfect. The nude shoes, dewy makeup and tousled updos let the clothes speak for themselves.

Tracy Reese

Tracy Reese stayed with the azure-hued theme while choosing resort wear  over formal style. The shape of this dress in interesting to me (it resembles a jumper, which are always favorites of mine!) This look is perfect vacation chic.

Rachel Zoe

Stylist-turned-designer Zoe has proven she has serious taste. While her clothes tend to be more subdued (all the more attention for the accessories!) they are each beautifully made. I love the simple details in the top of this dress. While Zoe didn’t take it quite as bright as some (ahem, DVF) this garment is still a showstopper.

“She’s always buzzing just like neon, neon…” DVF took it there and I am loving it! From the canary-colored shades, green-pink clothes to the deep blue shoes, this is one of my very favorite looks from NYFW2012. I want to wear this, now. The sleeves and plunging neckline mixed with the shiny fabric might be too much for some fashionistas but certainly not for me! The high-waisted shorts are flattering and sexy. The whole look shouts confident cool. A++!
