.emmys2012 trend alert: sequins.

Sequined, sparkly metallics made their way down the red carpet for the 64th Annual Emmy Awards this evening (staying on trend with other with other glittering fall looks). I love the neckline of Kerry Washington’s above look, and the champagne-colored sequins keep the gown from being too loud.

Sofia Vergara’s mermaid-inspired Zuhair Murad gown was a beautiful color that glistened in the sun. I liked the small cut-out and unusual neckline, and it fit her brilliantly.

Amy Poehler’s plunging neckline was an unexpected amout of sass. This Stella McCartney gown hugged Poehler’s body perfectly. Despite being covered in sequins the clean lines and simple train keep this garment from being overwhelming. I thought her “$2 costume ring from my child’s costume chest!”  was a sweet gesture.

Lucy Liu’s armor-inspired Versace gown was one of my favorites from the evening (though she did confess to Ryan Seacreast that she had pliers in her bag, just in case!). This gown is original, well-made and memorable. I loved it!

Nicole Kidman took a straight-from-the-runway approach in this Antonio Berardi gown. While it’s the only dress on my list to be half-bedazzled, the gleaming sequins on the top this garment are what make it a show stopper.
