.grammys trend alert: outrageous beauty.

While I typically love spotting trends during award show red carpets, the Grammys are a complete free-for-all. There is no rhyme or reason as to what celebrities wear, making it nearly impossible to spot a trend (other than the more outrageous and unexpected, the better). Instead I’ve decided to round up a few of my favorite looks, listed below in no particular order. Do you agree with my picks?

One glaring trend was long sleeves. Though many of them were not my favorite (Adele and Maria Menounos, for example) there were a few sleeved gals that I loved.

Katy Perry brought the hotness (and snubbed the Oscar dress code) in this smoldering mint green Gucci gown. The embellishment and bared chest were a lot, but her subtle makeup, soft hair and solitary seafoam ring totally worked.

Beyonce also rocked unexpected glamour in a black and white colorblocked pantsuit. The slits in the sleeves of this Osman ensemble remained sultry and sophisticated. I loved her sleek pony and oversized cuff bracelets.

Keeping it in the Knowles family, Solange aced this Ralph and Russo Couture number. The emerald green hue (which is officially Patone’s color of the 2013), structured cap sleeves and bright textured shoes were right on point. But my favorite element? Her perfect afro and nude lips. Solange just may have been my favorite look of the night.

As I’m always a sucker for an afro, Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town also earned a spot on my list. She paired feathers, a backless gown and messy locks perfectly. Her Maria Lucia Hohan dress fit like a glove.

Also one to scoff at the dress code, Kelly Rowland stunned in this Georges Chakra number. The strategic cutouts and delicate train were perfection! Her shiny bangs completed her look.

Another long-sleeved beauty was Florence Welch in Gievenchy. She jumped on the emerald bandwagon but spiced up the couture gown with studs and sparkles. The look was classic Flo and complimented her red tresses sensationally.

Rihanna was refreshingly demure in this beautiful Alaia gown. The sheer bust kept her look undeniably sexy, but her soft curls and bright red lip were a welcome change from her raunchy Instagram pictures. She looked timelessly classic.

Estelle shook things up in a printed two piece by Genelle Brooks x Love Collins. Her look was original and fun, and clearly on trend with the long-sleeved look.
