Van Gogh would be proud: the Oscar 2013 fashion drama materialized in black, sparkly, slinky gowns reminiscent of his most famous painting. All these ladies brought their own spin to old glamour in the timeless hue black. Each largely emphasized her look with shining gold or silver embellishments directly on the gown (forget blinging jewelry!) What are your thoughts of this trend? Academy appropriate?
Sandra hits a high note with sleek hair and a beautifully-beaded Elie Saab Haute Couture gown.
Halle Berry absolutely stunned in this structured Versace number. I love the sharp shoulders, shimmering lines, and interesting (read: plunging!) neckline.
I love Adele in this glimmering Jenny Packham gown, but as always my disappointment lies in her hair. Her self-described “gingersnap” locks are beautiful, so I wish she’d let them down to be bouncy and free! Alas, her strong eye makeup and subtle earrings were otherwise delightful.
Kelly Osbourne shone bright in this Zac Posen dress. I adore the asymmetric neckline and flowing bottom half. Kelly has transformed herself as a fashion force to be reckoned with.
Though Kristin Chenoweth was admittedly irritating during her pre-show coverage (I’ll give her a get-out-of-jail-free card…I’m sure it was mostly Lara Spencer’s influence that make K. Chen so over-enthusiastic) she looked beautiful on Oscar night. Despite this Tony Ward gown being large and in charge, it still complimented her small frame.
After all these years, Babs manages to stay on trend. While belting out Memories on the Oscar stage last night, Barbra Streisand gleamed in a custom Donna Karan number.
